Episode #1
I wish I had a witty title for our first episode, but I will leave that to Gariath to devise! Gariath is an 80 hunter and I'm an 80 Priest and we play World Of Warcraft on the Shadow Council Server. This is the show notes from our first podcast. It wasn't the first time we recorded it, but it's the first time we felt comfortable releasing it. Join us for a trip around Azeroth and how to make the traveling easy.
Here's a run down of our first show:
Here's a run down of our first show:
- Dan Darden recorded the intro for us. We hope to utilize his wonderful voice in the future. If you are needing someone who has a great voice for recording, drop us a line and we'll hook you up with him.
- Leveling Azeroth is a podcast that is all about the words of wisdom (well, sometimes wisdom) that we have and have run across while spending time in Azeroth. We hope to talk about how you can make your time in game more enjoyable and have it fit nicely with your real life as well!
- We discussed the differences between dps and healing and how we fell into our main roles as hunter dps and holy priestess healer.
After a bit of trial and error, we have a few things to suggest for new players who are deciding on their first toons:
- Since it is much easier and quicker to level in WoW now than when the game first appeared, we encourage new players to try out different classes (melee, ranged dps, healer and tank), to get a feel for what works best for them. By the time you reach 20 - if you've run a dungeon - you should know if you like it or hate it. End game is different and brings its own set of challenges, but if you liked doing something leveling you are more likely to enjoy it when doing it with 10-25 others.
- If you have any issues with being close-up on objects, stay away from tanking and melee - I can't stand the up close movement myself.
- Pet classes - hunters, warlocks and to some extent frost mages - are great if you like something taking the heat for you.
- Those of us out there who like to be of service or are a bit motherly or protective might enjoy healing. This Virgo loves to hyper focus on little green life bars knowing she is making a difference to her whole group.
- If you have control issues or are a white knight/princess in training, then tanking may be for you.
- Don't rush - but enjoy your time leveling, and trust us, you can always level something else if you decide the ret pally isn't for you.
- Our site of the week is The WoW Noob written by Garetia a guildmate of ours. You can find it at http://www.thewownoob.blogspot.com.
Garetia's blog talks about her frustrations, achievements, experiences and unique ways she does things in WoW. Noob is really a misnomer for her, as obviously she loves to learn and investigate how to play her toons better. She's the only person I know to level a set of toons dual boxing with picture-in-picture. She's amazing - so give her a read.
- Our website is in development - so stick with our blog for the next few weeks, but levelingazeroth.com will soon have its debut!
- You can reach Gariath at gariath.wow @gmail.com and follow him on Twitter @Gariath
- You can reach Fidelma at fidelmawow@gmail.com and follow her on Twitter @fidelmawow
- Links to our individual blogs and Garetia's are in the sidebar. Stop by - read a little - and leave some comments
That was about it for our first episode of Leveling Azeroth. We hope you'll join us next week for "Pugging - its' for the dog!"
